I have a laptop, and I sit with it wherever I need to: on dining chairs, stools, in bed, and just on the floor. This is inconvenient: the body gets tired quickly, and you constantly want to get up or change your position. So I decided to find myself a good chair. To do this, I talked with an office furniture buyer and with a meteorologist – a doctor who treats diseases of the spine.

Why waste time choosing a computer chair?
According to information, 45% of US residents have a sedentary job. Sitting for a long time is harmful even on the best chair in the world. Research shows that a sedentary lifestyle increases your chances of developing diabetes, cancer, and gaining excess weight.
To reduce the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle, it is recommended to engage in physical activity:
- Spend 150 minutes a week doing light exercise, such as walking, housecleaning, yoga;
- or 75 minutes per week of heavy exercise, such as running, cycling, or working out in the gym.
Doctors do not yet know how long a day you can sit. The UK’s chief medical officer recommends taking breaks as often as possible – for example, getting up and walking around.

However, a properly selected chair reduces the load on the spine, a person takes the correct posture and is less distracted by fatigue.
The chair is not everything. If you work with a desktop computer or on multiple monitors, at a minimum you also need a comfortable desk. But in this article, we will only talk about chairs.
